Twogeebs is back with 13 tracks, meticulously crafted from thoughts to paper to the mic, all freshly delivered on the new album “Geebs 4 Girls.” Presented by DJ Zilla, this album delivers a powerful punch of raw emotion, diversity, and social commentary. It also provides thought-provoking lyrics, an unfiltered glimpse into modern life, and a nostalgic 90s sound that brings back authentic hip hop.
In true traditional style, Twogeebs has jacked beats from other artists. However, for this project, he exclusively used beats from female artists, which inspired the album title. For example, the beat for “Don’t Mac 10s for Everybody” is originally by Armani Caesar.
“Geebs 4 Girls” commences with Twogeebs introducing the project, making callouts and big announcements in the opening track, “Geebs 4 Everybody.” When the vocals hit, the gritty feeling hits hard, creating a dark atmosphere that captivates you and compels you to keep listening.
The album offers a variety of tempos and emotions. Moving to the track “Your Love Is Geeb,” the R&B vibes take center stage as themes of love and affection emerge. The instruments blended with Twogeebs’ vocals work really well, and the humorous side of the gunshots and changeover lyrics adds impact.
Another highlighted track from “Geebs 4 Girls,” presented by DJ Zilla, is “Gracezelda.” The blended mix of Golden Age and Boom Bap takes hold as the lyrics address social problems, politics, and religion. Twogeebs’ vocals flow with characteristic style and factual commentary.
The final track I’d like to highlight that provides a big impact on the album is “Geebathon.” The emotions run with a feeling of higher power, touching on many subjects that the album as a whole relates to. The feature, Donté, works well with Twogeebs, as the pair tackles the song in an impeccable way. What captivates me most about this song is the big change-up at 2:45; the drop and transition work extremely well with the overall composition.
Pound for pound, the album “Geebs 4 Everybody,” crafted by Twogeebs and presented by Zilla, is well executed and is a ride of emotions and topics that any hip hop fan should check out. Press play on track 1, and let the sound take you.
